Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is recruiting a Cleaner at its Head Office in Midrand, Gauteng. This is a permanent, entry-level position requiring applicants to have Grade 12/Matric.
Dis-Chem requires a Cleaner to help maintain a clean, neat and hygienic working environment throughout its Head Office in Midrand.
The successful candidate will be responsible for cleaning offices and communal areas while ensuring that Dis-Chem’s hygiene and workplace standards are maintained.
The position also involves interacting with staff and visitors, so applicants should be professional, friendly and able to communicate effectively.
Minimum Requirements
The essential qualification for this position is:
Grade 12 / Matric
Applicants must also meet the special conditions of employment listed by Dis-Chem, including being South African and having a clear criminal and credit record.
A driver’s licence and own reliable transport are also listed under the special conditions of employment.
Cleaner Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will provide daily cleaning and hygiene services throughout the Head Office and communal areas.
Responsibilities include cleaning and maintaining offices, meeting rooms, training rooms, kitchens, canteens and restrooms.
The Cleaner will also:
Vacuum carpeted areas
Dust desks, chairs, telephones, shelves and photocopiers
Keep kitchens and bathrooms clean and adequately stocked
Dispose of refuse appropriately
Maintain cleaning routines
Store cleaning equipment safely
Use wet-floor warning signs when cleaning floors
Follow health and safety procedures
Report malfunctioning equipment and facilities to the team leader
The employee must also be available during operational hours to respond when additional cleaning is required.
Customer Service Responsibilities
Although this is primarily a cleaning position, the successful candidate may interact with customers, visitors and employees at the Head Office.
The Cleaner should be able to communicate clearly and professionally, assist visitors with directions where appropriate and refer problems to the relevant team leader when necessary.
Skills and Competencies
Dis-Chem is looking for candidates with cleaning skills and the ability to communicate in English.
Important qualities include trustworthiness, honesty, attention to detail, time management and the ability to follow instructions correctly.
Speaking a second additional language is considered advantageous.
