The successful candidate will oversee the daily movement of stock from the point where goods are received through storage, picking, issuing and eventual dispatch.
An important part of the position is maintaining the integrity of the warehouse’s bin location system, ensuring that physical stock and system records remain aligned.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
- Manage stock movements including receiving, put-away, internal transfers, picking, issuing to production and customer dispatch.
- Monitor stock levels against minimum, maximum and reorder thresholds.
- Identify and report stock shortages.
- Flag slow-moving and obsolete inventory to the Warehouse Manager.
- Track incoming deliveries and outgoing shipments.
- Ensure delivery notes, GRNs, picking slips and invoices correspond with actual physical stock movements.
- Investigate discrepancies between physical stock and system records.
- Determine the root causes of stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain an accurate warehouse bin-location system.
- Allocate suitable bin locations to new stock.
- Consider stock size, weight, turnover and picking efficiency when allocating locations.
- Ensure warehouse bins are correctly labelled.
- Conduct regular bin-location audits.
- Perform cycle counts and assist with annual stocktakes.
- Maintain warehouse housekeeping and health and safety standards.
- Identify opportunities to reduce stock losses and picking errors and improve turnaround times.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:

- Experience with cycle counting and stocktake processes.
- Microsoft Excel skills for stock analysis and reporting.
- Strong organisational abilities.
- Good numerical skills.
- Problem-solving abilities, particularly when investigating inventory discrepancies.
Experience gained within a manufacturing, engineering or industrial-parts environment would be particularly relevant to this position.
Is a Diploma or Degree Required?
No. According to the vacancy requirements, Grade 12/Matric is the essential educational requirement.
A qualification in any of the following areas would, however, be advantageous:
- Logistics
- Supply Chain Management
- Warehousing
- Inventory Management
This means applicants who have Matric and the required practical stock-control experience may still qualify even without a diploma or degree.

Because this position involves responsibility for stock accuracy, candidates should make sure their CV clearly highlights experience with cycle counts, stocktakes, goods receiving, GRNs, bin locations, inventory discrepancies, picking, dispatch and Microsoft Excel where applicable.
Experience working with warehouse or inventory-management systems should also be clearly mentioned if you have it.
Salary
The advertised salary is:
R150,000 – R180,000 per annum
That is approximately:
- R12,500 per month at R150,000 annually
- R15,000 per month at R180,000 annually
These monthly figures are simple annual-salary equivalents before tax and other deductions.
Who Should Apply?
This opportunity may suit candidates currently working or previously employed as a:
Stock Controller, Inventory Controller, Warehouse Controller, Stores Controller, Storeman, Warehouse Administrator or Inventory Clerk who has developed sufficient hands-on stock-control experience.
Applicants should be comfortable working with both physical inventory and computer-based stock records.
