Sea Harvest is recruiting a Reach Truck Driver to join its Cold Stores team in Cape Town, Western Cape.
This is a permanent, entry-level position for candidates with Grade 12, a valid Reach Truck Operator Licence/Certificate and at least two years of relevant reach truck experience.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and accurate movement of palletised fish within Sea Harvest’s cold storage operation.
The role involves operating a reach truck to locate, retrieve, stack and move frozen products while ensuring that stock movements are properly scanned and recorded.
The Reach Truck Driver will also support stock counts and inventory control to help ensure the company’s physical stock matches its inventory records.
Minimum Requirements
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
Grade 12 / Matric
Valid Reach Truck Operator Licence/Certificate
At least 2 years’ experience operating a reach truck
Experience within a cold storage, warehouse or food-manufacturing environment
A forklift licence is advantageous.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Preparing Orders for Dispatch and Inbound Stock
The Reach Truck Driver will receive orders from a supervisor and locate the required stock within the cold store.
Responsibilities include:
Receiving required orders from the supervisor
Locating pallets within the cold store
Scanning orders out correctly
Feeding orders to the Hyster driver
Receiving inbound stock from the Hyster driver
Scanning incoming orders
Storing pallets accurately in designated locations
Accuracy is important because incorrect pallet selection or storage can affect dispatch and inventory records.
2. Operating the Reach Truck
The successful candidate will operate a reach truck throughout designated cold-store areas.
This includes:
Loading products
Unloading products
Transporting pallets
Stacking frozen products
Retrieving stock
Moving products between production areas
Moving stock to and from blast freezers
Moving stock through holding freezers
Supplying dispatch areas
The employee must operate the equipment safely and according to company procedures.
Stock Rotation and FIFO
The Reach Truck Driver must maintain stock rotation according to FIFO principles.
FIFO means First In, First Out.
In practical terms, older stock should generally be moved or dispatched before newer stock where applicable. This is particularly important in food-storage environments where product age and cold-chain management must be carefully controlled.
Knowledge of FIFO principles is therefore one of the competencies Sea Harvest expects applicants to have.
Inventory and Stock Control
This job also includes inventory responsibilities.

Reach Truck Safety Responsibilities
Operating material-handling equipment safely is a major part of the position.
