Position Overview
Unitrans is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Medium Motor Vehicle Driver to join the Consumer Division in Durban. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing vehicles for trips, operating heavy-duty vehicles safely, and ensuring compliance with road safety regulations and company operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare vehicles for trips and conduct pre-trip inspections
Operate heavy-duty vehicles safely and efficiently
Handle delivery and transport documentation accurately
Follow all instructions from supervisors and management
Maintain a clean driving and safety record
Adhere to road traffic regulations and company procedures
Report emergencies, vehicle defects, or incidents immediately
Ensure vehicle cost-effectiveness and operational efficiency
Work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required
Maintain safe loading and vehicle handling procedures
Minimum Requirements
Grade 10 literacy level
Valid Code 10 Driver’s License with PDP
Minimum 3 years articulated driving experience
Medically fit
Clean criminal record
Defensive driving skills
Experience with Eaton Fuller and ZF gearboxes
Knowledge of vehicle components and inspections
Understanding of road traffic regulations
Knowledge of emergency and defect reporting procedures
Ability to operate fire extinguishers and perform safe loading techniques
